For entry, bag rules and transit at a glance, see our MetLife Stadium guide to getting there, parking and bag policy. The key points for this game follow below.
Getting there by train from Secaucus Junction
The stadium strongly encourages ticket holders to take mass transit to NFL games. NJ Transit operates the Meadowlands Rail Service for events with anticipated attendance above 50,000. The stadium pages do not say whether the train will run for this game, so check that rail service is running before you count on it. When it runs, the stadium says the train delivers guests directly to the front door of MetLife Stadium.
Trains leave from Secaucus Junction, where most of the NJ Transit rail system connects. According to the stadium, when the service runs it starts a few hours before kickoff and keeps running for a couple of hours after the game ends. The ride from Secaucus Junction to the Sports Complex station takes about 10 minutes.
To get back to the train after the game, leave through the MetLife Gate or the Verizon Gate. On select occasions NJ Transit may also offer buses between Secaucus Junction and the stadium. When it does, staff are there to direct riders to the bus boarding areas. The stadium says the trip takes about the same time by bus or train. The stadium has not published train times or fares for this game, and the public transportation page is the place to check.
Getting there by bus from Port Authority
Coach USA runs the 351 Meadowlands Express from the Port Authority to the MetLife Sports Complex for NFL games. The schedule, as the stadium describes it:
- Service starts two and a half hours before the game starts.
- Buses keep running until half an hour after the start.
- Return service runs for about an hour after the game ends.
Buses drop off and pick up in Lot K, near the Quest Diagnostics Performance Center. Leave through the MetLife Gate to reach it. For details, visit www.351express.com or call (800) 877-1888, Ext. 3. Before heading to Port Authority, check live subway status.
Parking at MetLife Stadium
For this game the lots open at 8 a.m., and they usually close two hours after an event ends. Drivers who arrive before the lots open will not be let into the Sports Complex and may be told to leave the roads around it. The event page has a “Buy Parking” option.
- You are sent to the lots closest to where you enter the Sports Complex, and you cannot move between lots.
- NJ State Police may search vehicles, sometimes with a canine unit. Drivers who refuse a search will not be let in.
- Parking on nearby roads, medians, grass or breakdown lanes is not allowed. Local police can ticket or tow violators at the owner’s expense.
- Overnight parking is not allowed. Charter buses park in Lot L.
The general event parking page has the full rules and a lot map.
Park and ride at Secaucus
To skip the traffic right around the stadium, you can park at the Laz at Edison Park Fast lot at the Frank R. Lautenberg Station at Secaucus Junction and take the NJ Transit train to the game. The lot is off Exit 15X on the eastern extension of the NJ Turnpike, at 675 New Country Road, Secaucus.
The lot has 1,100 spaces and is open 24 hours a day. The stadium recommends reserving a space. Before you choose this option, check that rail service is running for the game.
Rideshare and taxi drop-off
Taxis and limousines drop off and pick up between Lots D and E, where there is curb space along the road. Using that area is free. Rideshare drop-off is on the road between Lots D and E, and rideshare pickup is in Lot E.
The stadium warns that surge pricing is common after events and that with big crowds the wait can be longer than two hours. It encourages fans to use public transit instead. For more ways to get around the region, see our New York transport guide.
Bag policy: what you can bring
MetLife Stadium follows the NFL clear bag policy. Each guest may bring:
- One clear bag no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches.
- One small non-clear purse or clutch no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
- A one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc or similar).
Non-clear bags bigger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches are not allowed. That includes backpacks, fanny packs, diaper bags, purses, camera or binocular cases, and briefcases or computer bags. Seat cushions are not allowed either, unless needed for medical reasons. Medically necessary items are allowed after inspection at a gate set aside for that purpose.
Every guest and every bag is searched before entry. Be ready to open your bag and move or remove items if staff ask. If a bag is too big, take it back to your car or use the Bag Check outside each open gate, which is free for NFL events. The full rules are on the stadium bag policy page.
What to know before you go
Plan around the 11 a.m. doors and the 1 p.m. start. If you are taking the 351 bus, keep in mind that it stops running half an hour after the start. If you plan to take the train, confirm that the Meadowlands Rail Service is running for this game. Handing out flyers, marketing and fundraising are not allowed anywhere on stadium grounds, including the parking lots. Check the NYC weather forecast before you leave, and check the event page on the day for any updates.
