Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how How2NewYork (“we”, “us”) handles information when you visit how2newyork.com. How2NewYork is operated by a private individual. Contact: hi@how2newyork.com.
Information we collect
- Server logs. Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and the time of the request. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting and basic traffic statistics.
- Emails you send us. If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and use it only to reply and handle your request.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found us (for example from a search engine or social media). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser. Visitors from the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first, and analytics cookies are not set unless they accept. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Cookies. Apart from analytics, the site uses only cookies needed for it to work. We do not run user accounts or comments for readers.
Advertising
We plan to show ads, including ads served by Google. When ads are enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown. We will update this policy when advertising goes live.
Third-party content
Some pages load data from public services, such as the National Weather Service forecast and MTA service status, and links take you to other websites that have their own privacy policies. Sharing a story on social media is subject to that platform’s policy.
How we use and share information
We use information to run and secure the site, answer messages and understand which content is useful. We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate the site (such as our hosting provider) or when required by law.
Your choices and rights
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You may ask us to access, correct or delete personal information you have sent us by emailing hi@how2newyork.com. Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws, and visitors from the EEA and UK, may have additional rights, and we will honor valid requests.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
