Queens County Farm Museum in Glen Oaks is in the middle of its October pumpkin month, letting visitors roam the 47-acre farm to pick out a pumpkin, and it will host a ticketed Halloween on the Farm night on Oct. 31.

The farm at 73-50 Little Neck Pkwy. welcomes visitors seven days a week. On weekdays it runs 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.; on Saturdays and Sundays the gates open at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.

What to do at the Queens Farm pumpkin patch

Pumpkins wait right at the entrance. Beyond the patch, a tractor tour costs $6 per person and rolls past the farm’s pastures, wooded areas and growing fields. The farm’s animals are part of the visit too: goats, pigs, sheep, alpacas, steer and hens, which guests can feed with food bought at the farm store.

The store also stocks gifts, crafts, toys, refreshments, plants, fresh raw honey and eggs, along with yarn made from the farm’s own alpacas and sheep.

Families who visited last weekend said the trip doubles as a lesson in how food is grown. A father from Manhattan said his borough has few places to buy pumpkins, and he liked finding them as soon as he walked in rather than 20 minutes away, as at farms outside the city.

Halloween on the Farm tickets

Costumes are encouraged on Oct. 31, when nine candy stations around the grounds will hand out treats. Adults pay $15 and kids ages 3 to 11 pay $25, while children 2 and under get in free. Details are at QueensFarm.org. For more family ideas, see these Halloween outings in Brooklyn.
