Citi Field is in Flushing, Queens, and the 7 train stops right at the ballpark at Mets-Willets Point station, with Manhattan stops at Hudson Yards, Times Square, 5th Avenue and Grand Central. Before you leave, know the main entry rule: backpacks are prohibited inside Citi Field. The only exceptions are totally clear backpacks with no obscured interior pockets and backpacks used for ADA, medical or nursing reasons.

How to get to Citi Field by subway

The 7 train runs to Mets-Willets Point station, which the Mets describe as direct service to Citi Field. In Manhattan, the line stops at Hudson Yards, Times Square, 5th Avenue and Grand Central, and it makes stops across Queens on the way to the ballpark.

On game days, the Mets say they work with the MTA to run frequent service on the 7, with extra and express trains as often as possible. The team also warns that construction at the 61 St-Woodside stop may prevent 7 express service between Queensboro Plaza and 74 Street-Broadway during the 2026 season. That includes the postgame “Mets Super Express.” The MTA website posts updates on when full express service returns.

Check current service before you leave on the How2NewYork live subway status page. The Mets also list the details on their Subway to Citi Field page.

Transferring to the 7 from other subway lines

If you don’t start on the 7, the Mets list these transfer points:

  • E, F, M or R: transfer to the 7 at 74 Street-Broadway / Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue.
  • N or W: transfer to the 7 at Queensboro Plaza.
  • G: the crosstown line to and from Brooklyn. Transfer to the 7 at Court Square.

Ferry to Citi Field

Seastreak runs ferries to Mets home games, including a vessel called the “Homerun” that was built for the Mets service. Most regular season games have boats from Highlands, New Jersey, with occasional stops at Staten Island and East Midtown Manhattan. Select Saturday and Sunday games also have a route from Stamford, Connecticut.

A trip takes about 75 minutes end to end in each direction. Boats dock at a temporary dock at the World’s Fair Marina, about a 10-minute walk from Citi Field’s Left Field Gate. Every boat has seating, outdoor decks, food and drinks, and restrooms. Seastreak’s website has tickets, sailing schedules, departure times, exact dock locations and pricing. The Mets explain the service on their Ferry to Citi Field page.

Driving and parking near Citi Field

The Mets point drivers to three offsite garages in Downtown Flushing, about a short walk or one subway stop from the ballpark:

  • Skyview Mall: about a 10-minute walk to Citi Field across the Roosevelt Avenue bridge. Enter from Roosevelt Avenue or College Point Boulevard.
  • Flushing Commons: a surface lot and a garage with vehicle entrances on 39th Avenue. It sits next to the Main Street-Flushing 7 train entrances, one stop from the ballpark.
  • Flushing Plaza: an underground garage entered from Kissena Boulevard and Barclay Avenue. From there, walk or take the 7 one stop.

All three are open 24/7 and run by Metropolis. Rates are set in advance with the Mets and are the same at every location. The first visit requires a one-time account, and after that the system recognizes your car and charges you automatically when you return. The Mets say they do not control or operate these lots and do not guarantee space. Booking details are on the Mets parking page.

Rideshare drop-off and pick-up

The official rideshare drop-off and pick-up area is just past the intersection of Shea Road and Boat Basin Place, one block from the Left Field Gate. Before the game, you can also be dropped off along Seaver Way or Roosevelt Avenue.

After the game, leave on the third base side for the fastest walk to the pick-up area. The Mets prefer the Left Field Gate (ramp or stairs), but the Seaver, Stengel and Rotunda gates also work. From any of these, walk north along the stadium past the Citi Bike station, cross Shea Road and look for the signed rideshare area under the highway. Because of construction and longer walks, the Mets say not to use the K Korner, Bullpen or Right Field gates to reach rideshare.

Before getting into a car, follow the posted SAMI steps: Stop, Ask, Match and Inform. Do not take a ride from anyone who offers one on the sidewalk or from a car, and only get into a New York State TLC licensed vehicle. See the Mets rideshare page for a map.

Citi Field gates and entry

The Mets transportation pages name these gates: Left Field, Seaver, Stengel, Rotunda, K Korner, Bullpen and Right Field. The ferry dock at the World’s Fair Marina is about a 10-minute walk from the Left Field Gate, and the rideshare area is one block from it.

The pages in this guide do not list gate opening times. Check your ticket and the event listing on the Mets site before you go. Every bag is screened by security before entry, and the backpack ban exists to speed up that screening. Lines move faster if you bring a permitted bag or none at all.

Citi Field bag policy

Backpacks of every size and style are prohibited. These bags are allowed if they are no larger than 16 by 16 by 8 inches:

  • Purses, tote bags, drawstring bags, laptop bags and messenger bags.
  • Diaper bags that are not backpack-style.
  • Small soft-sided coolers.
  • Totally clear backpacks with no obscured interior pockets.

Any bag larger than 16 by 16 by 8 inches is prohibited. You can bring laptops, tablets and other electronic devices.

Citi Field has no bag check. If you arrive with a backpack, a third-party company rents lockers on site for a fee. The lockers open two hours before the start of the game and stay open until an hour after it ends. A backpack bought at a Citi Field store gets a dated credential that allows it inside for that day only. The full policy is on the Citi Field bag policy page.

Prohibited items, water and drinks

The full list of prohibited items is in the Citi Field Security Policy, which is linked from the bag policy page. Check it if you are unsure about a specific item.

For drinks, you may bring one soft, plastic, factory-sealed water bottle of 20 ounces or less, plus one sealed, soft-sided child’s juice box. Neither can be frozen. Before you pack, check the NYC weather forecast.

Accessibility at Citi Field

The Mets subway page links to station details for Mets-Willets Point, including ADA accessibility. If your medical equipment won’t fit in a permitted bag, you can use a backpack for ADA, medical or nursing reasons. Before each game, see the Security Supervisor at your entry gate to get the permission and credential you need. For another ballpark in the city, How2NewYork has a Yankee Stadium guide.
