New York City has farmers markets in every borough. Most set up one or two days a week in the same spot. The city health department’s farmers market list, published on NYC Open Data, counts 1,200 markets, and 1,152 of them accept EBT.

The days and hours below are the ones the city publishes. Each market has its own season, so a market running in summer may be closed in winter. Check the listing before a long trip.

Paying with EBT at NYC farmers markets

Of the 1,200 markets on the city list, 1,152 accept EBT. Every market named in this guide is listed as accepting it.

Bring your EBT card. Payment setups differ from market to market, so ask a vendor or market staff how EBT works at that location before you shop.

How to plan a farmers market trip today

Start with the day. Most markets run once a week, so first confirm that the one you want is open today.

  • Check the season. The city notes that seasons vary by market. A listed day does not guarantee the market is running this week.
  • Watch the closing time. Many markets end at 2 p.m. or 3 p.m., and a few close at 2:30 p.m.
  • Go early for the most choice. Most markets open at 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. The last hour usually has less on the tables.
  • Use the cross streets. Most listings give an intersection instead of a street number, so map the corner before you leave.

Before you head out, check the live subway and bus status page for service changes. To see which trains stop near a market, use the guide to the subway lines that serve each neighborhood.
