NYPD releases photo after Labor Day gunfire on Eastern Parkway
Two people were hit when an argument in Crown Heights ended in gunfire on the holiday afternoon. Detectives have made a photograph public and want help putting a name to the person in it.
A photograph of the person detectives believe opened fire during a street argument in Crown Heights has been made public, and the NYPD is asking anyone who recognizes the face to get in touch. Two people were wounded in the Labor Day afternoon gunfire, police said.
The quarrel began about 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7, near the corner of Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue, according to police. Two people were arguing, investigators said, when one of them drew a firearm and squeezed off several rounds toward the other. Whether the two had ever met is not something police have addressed, and no motive has been offered for the confrontation.
The ankle wound was the more serious of the two injuries. A 37-year-old woman went by ambulance to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County, and a full recovery is expected, police said. The second person hit, a 19-year-old man, was grazed across the foot and skipped the hospital altogether.
Shooter headed west on Eastern Parkway, police say
After the last shot, the shooter moved off westbound along Eastern Parkway and out of the area, police said. Nobody has been taken into custody so far, and investigators have not spelled out what set the argument off in the first place. The case remains open.
That leaves the photograph as the main lead. Anyone who knows the person pictured, and anyone who happened to be near that stretch of Crown Heights on the holiday afternoon, is asked to reach out to detectives.
