Bronx 10 Mile draws about 13,000 runners to the Grand Concourse
The New York Road Runners race started near Yankee Stadium on Saturday morning, and a free kids run filled Joyce Kilmer Park.
Around 13,000 people ran the 2026 edition of the New Balance Bronx 10 Mile on Saturday, a New York Road Runners race that sold out and started at 8 a.m. close to Yankee Stadium.
The Bronx 10 Mile course
Runners lined up on the Grand Concourse north of 165th Street and headed north to Mosholu Parkway. There they turned left and went west, doubled back just short of Sedgwick Avenue, then ran east on Mosholu Parkway as far as Hull Avenue before a second U-turn pointed them west again.
Back at the Grand Concourse, the course turned left and ran south to 161st Street. A right turn onto 161st Street took runners across River Avenue and over the subway overpass to the finish.
The race was a homecoming for New York Road Runners. The group got its start in the Bronx in 1958, at Macombs Dam Park, and today stages 60 races a year for adults and young runners, including the TCS New York City Marathon.
Over a dozen local run clubs took part, among them Van Cortlandt Track Club, Run the Neck, Bronx Sole, Boogie Down Bronx Runners and Bronx Burners Run Club. Rob Simmelkjaer, the NYRR chief executive, described the race as “a commemoration of our genesis, of the essence of the Bronx.”
Free Boogie Down Kids Run in Joyce Kilmer Park
Hundreds of kids between 2 and 18 also joined the Boogie Down Kids Run, now in its third year. There was no cost to take part. Young runners covered a stretch of the Grand Concourse, then headed to Joyce Kilmer Park for a festival set up like a field day. NYRR counts the event among the more than 20 no-cost youth events its Rising New York Road Runners program puts on each year.
