A free ice cream truck will park in two Manhattan neighborhoods on Tuesday, Sept. 22, giving out samples from a limited-edition collection built around the Peacock comedy “The Paper.”

The Graeter’s truck opens in the Meatpacking District from noon to 2 p.m., on Washington Street between Little West 12th and Gansevoort streets. It then moves downtown to the Battery, serving from 3:30 to 7 p.m. in Castle Clinton Plaza, across from 17 State St.

What is in the free ice cream samples

The samples come from the “Black, White, and Read All Over” collection, six pints created for the series: Cookies & Cream, Strawberry, Black Cherry Chip, Chocolate Chip, Madagascar Vanilla and Raspberry Sorbet. The Ohio ice cream maker teamed up with the streaming service to mark the show’s second season, which follows a group of journalists trying to revive a historic Ohio newspaper.

The truck will also stage newspaper-themed front-page moments for fans who stop by, a nod to the series. Season 2 is streaming now.

If you cannot get to the truck

The six-pint bundle can be ordered online from Graeter’s, and it ships with a pint-sized coozie to keep everything cold on the way home. The brand’s retail shops are serving a “Black, White, and Read All Over” sundae as well, built on Cookies & Cream ice cream with strawberry topping, whipped cream, chocolate jimmies and a cherry.

Both truck stops are free, and each sits within a short walk of the waterfront, making the Battery shift the easier one for anyone finishing work downtown.
