Fort Ticonderoga’s corn maze sends visitors on 1775 scouting missions through Oct. 25
The six-acre Adirondack maze, roughly five hours by car from the city, opens six days a week, and an Oct. 3 harvest festival adds a market and a lake cruise.
Up in the Adirondacks, roughly five hours by car from the city, Fort Ticonderoga’s Heroic Corn Maze is open six days a week until Oct. 25. The six-acre layout was just picked as one of the country’s best corn mazes in a 2026 readers’ choice vote.
What’s inside the Fort Ticonderoga corn maze
The 2026 design is brand new. Its paths are built around six stories of bravery and secret scouting missions from 1775 and 1776. To work for visitors of every age, the maze is split into two phases.
Along the way, “Maze Quest” challenges ask visitors to use what they know about the fort’s history to unlock clues that lead them out of the stalks.
The award comes during an especially busy year for the historic site. Its Real Time Revolution program is restaging events of the American Revolution on the same dates and on the same ground where they happened 250 years ago.
Oct. 3 harvest festival and maze hours
For the fullest day, plan the trip around Oct. 3, when the fort hosts its Heritage, Harvest & Horse Festival. On top of the maze, visitors can shop a farmers’ market tucked into an orchard of heirloom apple trees, then take a narrated Carillon boat cruise on Lake Champlain.
Gates to the maze open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 5 p.m., every day except Monday. One general admission ticket covers two days in a row, so visitors coming up from the city have time to see the site’s 2,000 acres of historic grounds without hurrying. The fort strongly recommends buying tickets ahead of time.
